It's been four long years since the Bucks were last seen in the playoffs (they averaged 29 wins per season in the ensuing 3 years). Even then, there wasn't much of a reason to Fear the Deer. While Michael Redd was filling it up (this year's Salmons), the team's distributor (Ford) and second leading scorer (Simmons - yes, Simmons!) left much to be desired.
This year's squad has chemistry and the coach of the year. It also has a playmaker who has a sense of the moment (Jennings) and a deep rotation. However, it no longer has the glue of the team. When Bogie went down, so did our chances for a first-round upset. No matter. This team has a couple of wins in them, and a lot can be said for getting BJ some playoff reps. So when the playoffs begin tomorrow at 4:30 (no, Bulls/Cavs does NOT count), I won't be remiss at the inevitable first round exit. No, I will proudly support my deer, rooting for them to learn from this Atlanta series, with the hope that they will keep it in their back pocket for year's run.
