Couples is the lead at 5 under; everyone is within 6 shots. His post-round interview was refreshing. He talked about how he had a few wins coming in on the Champions Tour (dude's 50) and was feeling good about his game. He mentioned that he was putting "ridiculously well" and that he was a factor in the tournament in his own mind, which he likes.
It was surprisingly surprising to watch an athlete verbalizing happiness with the current state of his game. Such actions have become quasi-anti-American. Pleasure leads to complacency and to a letdown. If an alien watched the NCAA tournament, it might think it was a competition in not enjoying victories. Every coach talks about how that last game's over, looking forward, one game at a time, getting better, who's next, learning from our mistakes, next guy in, and so forth. I hope Freddy has a beer or two and calls Brad Stevens.
